Sossego Tinto 2018, from Alentejo

Sossego Tinto 2018, produced by Herdade do Peso in the Alentejo wine region of Portugal.

Herdade do Peso is one of the brands of Sogrape Vinhos.

This medium-ruby colored red wine was made from the Aragonêz, Syrah and Touriga Nacional grape varieties.

On the nose, the intense aroma of red and black fruits like cherry, strawberry, plum, blackberry and jam. Delicate notes of wood stand out (vanilla and chocolate, with subtle spice), the result of aging in oak barrels.

On the palate, it is a very versatile and elegant wine given its balance between tannins, acidity and fruits. A smooth attack with some soft, velvet tannins. Ripe fruits present without losing liveliness due to the good acidity. A not complicated dry wine with a fresh and long finish.

It has 13,5% alcohol content.

Vinification: vinified from selected stand grapes. After complete destemming and gentle crushing, it was macerated and fermented, reassembled in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 26ºC for about 8 days. When the desired organoleptic balance was reached, the masses were pressed gently.

After malolactic fermentation, the wines aged in 2-4-year-old barrels of French and Caucasian oak for about 6 months. They were subjected to a slight bonding and filtration, before bottling.

The wine reaches its fullness of quality 2 to 3 years later. After opening the bottle, consume immediately. It should be served at a temperature between 15-17ºC.

It can be enjoyed alone, or accompanied either by pasta, various meat dishes, more elaborate traditional dishes and cheeses.
