Pata d’Urso Branco 2019, from Douro

Among the best white wines of the Douro, there is this pearl gem, which is also a product of Quinta da Furada. (Head to one of my previous posts to read more about this winery!)

The Quinta’s team’s challenge was to discover new production realities: new plots of old white varieties, planted at Quinta da Furada, which is located in Ervedosa do Douro, in the heart of the region.

Pata D’Urso White is a young wine from the vintage of 2019, which was characterized as a dry year. Thus, in order not to let the maturation of the white grape varieties that make up Pata d’Urso Branco 2019 advance too far, the Quinta started the grape harvest earlier, at the end of August.

The wine was produced from the youngest vines of the Quinta, the result of recent plantations, but respectful of the old white grape varieties of the Douro Valley vineyards, fermented at controlled temperature, aged in both stainless steel vats and oak barrels.

The name ’Pata d’Urso’ means Bear Paw in English. The origin of this name is a very nice story that I mentioned in my previous post.

The drink presents a light citrus color in the glass.

Very intensive fruity and floral aromas on the nose, mostly tropical fruits, banana and mango, with some notes of lemon and white florals.

On the palate, the wine has very complex but balanced flavors. The sweetness of the ripe, tropical fruits mixed with the pickles of lemon, accompanied by a touch of lemon peel.

Very fresh wine with a strong but natural acidity that keeps us a long persistent finish, giving the wine elegance.

The alcohol content is 13,5%.

Consume this wine at a temperature of 10-14 °C.

Pairing well with any seafood and fish meals, white meat and pasta dishes.

A world of aromas and flavors in one bottle!

An excellent wine with beautiful freshness and aftertaste!

Cheers!
