Vinha da Coutada Velha 2018, from Alentejo

Vinha da Coutada Velha 2018 is a red wine produced by Monte da Ravasqueira winery in the Alentejo wine region of Portugal.

This wine origin from Coutada at Herdade da Mata, in Arraiolos. A Coutada is a private reserve where for decades the mission was to preserve and enhance the existing biodiversity.

Vinha da Coutada Velha 2018 is a blend of the Aragonez (30%), Trincadeira (30%), Syrah (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) grape varieties, being grown on the soil is profiled argil-limestone with some granite.

The wine has a pale garnet color.

A mixture of black and red fruits, strawberry, blueberry and cherry, accompanied with very spicy and balsamic notes, on the nose. Lightly woody with a hint of oak, smoke and earthy notes. On the palate, balanced wine with good structure and medium tannins. Plus, aromas of cherry jam. Good acidity in the mouth throughout the tasting.

Medium finish, which ends on a fine, harmonious and complex note.

The drink has a little alcohol flavor at the beginning and is full-bodied, 13.5% alcohol with higher intensity.

Winemaking: the grapes harvested manually and mechanically. Partial crushing with total determining. Cold maceration, pre-fermentative, and fermentation at 28 degrees. Aging for 9 months in French oak barrels.

Pairing well with spicy meats or strong cheeses.

This is a rustic, easy-drinking red wine with the typical characteristics of the Alentejo wine region.
