Aragonez 2017, from Algarve

Aragonez 2017, a red wine, produced by Quinta da Tôr winery, in a small village called Tôr, near Loulé, in the Algarve wine region of Portugal.

Their vines are growing on terroir with a Mediterranean climate which conducive to a balanced maturation.

This monovarietal wine from the Aragonez grape presents a light translucent ruby color with garnet nuances on the edges. Strong, persistent wine legs appear on the glass thanks to the higher alcohol level (14,5%). The grapes were harvested manually, then vinification and stage in stainless steel vats with controlled temperature.

Concentrated ripe red fruit aromas on the nose, of cherry and strawberry, with jammy touches, supplemented nicely by earthy notes, cedar and tobacco.

On the palate, a smooth volume, sweetish, flavors of fruits, with balsamic notes. A medium-bodied, solid wine with light acidity and silky tannins. Despite the predominance of sweetish fruit flavors, a well-balanced drink, ending in a medium-long finish.

The strong alcohol level is slightly burning the throat but lovely and pleasant.

This is a really enjoyable, fruity Algarve wine.

Recommended serving temperature is 16 °C.

This is real gastronomic wine, goes well with meat and fish dishes, hams or smoked salmon, tomato-based dishes, and mainly the local codfish.
