Moscatel do Douro

And here it is… a Moscatel do Douro wine, produced by C. Da Silva (Vinhos) S.A., in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Da Silva (Vinhos) S.A. is a traditional Port wine House. Founded in 1862, its present name was defined in the first decades of the twentieth century, when Mr. Clemente da Silva received the company through marriage.

DALVA is now present in Brazil, North America, Europe and Asia as well. Its mission is to produce wines with high-quality standards that meet the desires of all consumers by ensuring the prestige, reputation and perception of brand value.

Contemporal is an exclusive wine brand of Continente, awarded by medals obtained at the International Wine Challenge, the Decanter World Wine Awards and the Monde Selection in Brussels as well.

This Moscatel do Douro is a fortified wine from the Moscatel grape variety, aged in very old oak barrels.

It presents a beautiful deep golden yellow color.

Intense, fresh sweety and floral aromas on the nose, with notes of lavender, raisins, licorice and oak.

On the palate, a light, aromatic wine with the gentle sweetness of raisin, bold, grapey flavors, lychee, a little citrus, and some orange peel. Delicate warm, burning sensation in the throat due to the 17% alcohol content.

The aftertaste is persistent, gentle aromatics, slightly sweety, with a little citrus and mint.

Consume this wine at a temperature of 14-16 °C.

Ideal as an aperitif or accompanying desserts.
