Altano Branco 2020 is a white wine from the Douro DOC, produced by the Symington Family Estates, who are producers in Portugal since the 19th century.
Symington Family Estates has two important wineries in the Douro, one in Quinta do Sol, near Régua, and the other one is in Quinta do Bomfim, near Pinhão. These two cellars produce the highest volume of Port and Douro DOC wines. Their mission is to produce the best possible wines with grapes from each of the properties.
The Symington family was among the pioneers of modern Douro wines. In the 90’s they started producing Douro DOC wines from the same native vineyards and grape varieties that have always produced excellent Port wine.
They launch the first red Altano in 1999. Today, the Altano range has global distribution and the wines have been recognized for their quality and distinction.
This fresh white wine was produced from grapes grown in the cooler, higher vineyards where white grape maturations can be more even and homogeneous. The result is a zesty, aromatic wine showing tropical fruit and refreshingly crisp acidity.
This white Altano is a blend of Viosinho (35%), Malvasia Fina (30%), Moscatel Galego (20%), Arinto (5%), Rabigato (5%) and Gouveio 5% grape varieties.
The winemaking took place at the Symington family’s modern estate, which is equipped with state-of-the-art winemaking technology. It aged for 3 months in stainless steel vats, with minimal contact with oxygen, in order to preserve all the aromatic freshness of the wine.
The wine presents a bright yellow straw color in the glass.
On the nose, very fresh in the aromas of summer and tropical fruits, pineapple, melon, peach and passion fruit, with a subtle note of vanilla.
Exuberant and fresh flavors on the palate, citrus and green apple notes, with a touch of honey. Silky and smooth drink with a nice acidity giving a good finish to the tasting. A naturally refreshing and aromatic wine.
Good wine for aging but should consume in two years after harvest.
12.5% alcohol content.
Should serve ideally at 10-12°C temperature.
A great, ideal wine for every day, to relax, drinking at home with family or friends. Ready for immediate consumption.
Good pairing with grilled fish, shellfish, white meats or salads.
