Castelão 2017 by Quinta do Malaca, from Algarve, Portugal.
This is a dry red wine with deep ruby color, made from 100% of the local Castelão grape variety.
After decanting this bottle an hour, it opened up perfectly!
Tasting the wine, black fruits flavors appeared on the nose, blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, and earthy aromas, with notes of leather, a hint of spicy and wood on the palate.
Medium body, with a finish of medium tannins.
A real, soft gastronomic wine with 15% alcohol level.
The grapes are hand-picked and make a small cold maceration before starting the alcoholic fermentation, carried out at a controlled temperature. Only part of the lot is aged in French oak wood barrels to maintain the profile of the fruit.
Pair it well with red meats and heavy fish meals.
An easy-drinking wine, worth to taste!
