Ravasqueira Syrah 2022, from Alentejo

Let’s explore the Syrah grape in Portugal!

This grape variety is considered one of the oldest grape varieties. It was only in recent decades that it became one of the most widely cultivated in the world. The leading country in its cultivation is France, more precisely the country’s southern region, but it is now grown in diverse places worldwide.
Part of the success of this grape around the world is attributed to its great adaptability, which allows it to be cultivated with excellent results in different terrains, climates and altitudes. As a result, it is possible to find exceptional wines also with Portuguese labels, from grapes grown in a Mediterranean climate.

This Ravasqueira 100% Syrah wine was specially designed to showcase the potential of a grape variety that finds excellent conditions to develop in Ravasqueira, in the Alentejo wine region of Portugal.

The Syrah grape was partially aged in French and American oak barrels. So, it presents itself as a more complex and textured wine, full of elegance and volume, widely gastronomic or to be enjoyed alone.

This dark and dense garnet-colored wine presents a nose with great impact and balance between notes of ripe black fruits, plum and fig, along with the notes of aging in wood.

On the palate, it presents unique lightness and power with a velvety texture.

The wine goes well with red meats and dishes with intense flavors.

Ravasqueira’s wines were born from a dream and every day everything is done to honor that dream. The property was acquired by D. Manuel De Mello, as a family home, and on the label of each bottle, they remember him, his passion, and his dedication to the art of producing great wines.
And you? How do you feel about Syrah wines?
