Quinta do Vale Premium 2016, from Dão

Quinta do Vale Premium red wine, produced by Casa Américo winery, located in the Dão wine region of Portugal.

Casa Américo was established by Américo Seabra, a father, who had the dream of producing wine in the land where he was born, in Vila Nova de Tazém, situated in the sub-region of Serra da Estrela, region of Dão. After he emigrated to the United States with his family in 1967, he returns to Portugal around 2000, with his dream of producing wine. The project was followed up by his children who recovered the property, built a new cellar, and founded Casa Américo.

Today the winery has 120ha of vineyards, planted with the noble grape varieties of the Dão region, in poor granite terrain, between 400 and 600m in altitude.

The sub-region Serra da Estrela is one of the most important terroirs in Dão and here noble wines are produced with a unique freshness and elegance.

One of this winery’s brands is the «Quinta do Vale».

This Premium red wine is a blend of the Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional grape varieties, from the vintage of 2016, growing in perfect symbiosis with nature, using techniques that respect the environment and the biodiversity.

Dark ruby color in the glass.

Medium intensity aromas of cherries, cranberries and blackberries, with some cedar, vanilla, notes of black pepper, and touches of licorice, on the nose.

On the palate, medium-bodied, balanced wine with peaceful tannins and nice acidity. The finish is medium persistence with some dryness and notes of tobacco. Not too dry, fruity wine.

Very enjoyable wine with 13% ABV.

Should be consumed at a temperature of 16 °C.

Pairing nicely with steak, burgers, lamb, or tomato-based dishes.
