Fiuza Rosé, from Tejo

A rosé for summer! Can you imagine how is the blend of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional grapes in a rosé wine?

The Fiuza Family produces wine for more than one century in two of their estates located in the Tejo region of Portugal.

The company started operating at the beginning of the 20th century.

Its founder, Mr. Joaquim Fiuza, during his long life (he lived 102 years) was able to develop both his two passions: winemaking and sailing.

Regarding his sailing career, as a sportsman, he was one of the most awarded Portuguese athletes and participated in 3 Olympic Games as well.

As for his other passion, winemaking, he was determinant for the Fiuza Company. In 1985, he and Peter Bright, an Australian winemaker in Portugal decide to make a partnership and create the Fiuza & Bright Company.

They were pioneers in the growing of  French grapes varieties in Portugal, and they specialized in mono-varietal wines. Their most important red varieties are the Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and the white ones are the Alvarinho, Arinto, Vital, Fernão Pires.

The quality of Fiuza wines has been recognized nationally and internationally by the contests but especially by the consumer who drinks their wine each day.

This Fiuza Rosé is a blend of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional grapes, from the vintage of 2021. Light pressing of the red grapes followed by fermentation in vats. After contact with grapes skins for 24 hours, is carefully fermented at 14ºC.

The wine presents a pale salmon color.

The extremely aroma shows seductive floral and violet notes, combined with refreshing berry fragrances, highlighted with a hint of ripe cassis, raspberries and strawberry.

On the palate, an elegant and fresh wine, with wild fruits in excellent balance. Light, dry wine and pretty acidic with citrus, a touch of rhubarb notes, and also the quite diluted flavors of strawberry. Ending in a short finish.

11% alcohol content.

It should be served at a temperature between 10-12 ºC.

It is a very versatile wine. Excellent as an aperitif but pairing well with white, roasted meat, grilled fish, seafood and light meals. Also, recommend with an appetizer or with kinds of pasta.

This rosé is delightful in every way! Especially on hot summer nights, this is an option that you should really not miss!

A summer chillin’ wine. Cheers!
