So Blanc, from Algarve

Sauvignon Blanc is a widely planted grape variety in the world but offers a unique taste in each region.

This white was produced by Quinta do Barranco Longo in the Algarve wine region of Portugal, which is the warmest region in the south of the country, with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, and never has frost and snow.

Quinta do Barranco Longo is one of the oldest wineries in the region and its professional team knows exactly how to get the best out of this grape on this terroir, with a Mediterranean climate and clay-limestone soil, close to the Atlantic Ocean.

Growing on their vineyard with a warm climate, this grape found its place in the market.

The wine was made from Sauvignon Blanc grape. Cooling the grapes, skin maceration, followed by pressing and decanting the must. Fermentation in stainless steel vats with controlled temperature. Stage on the fine lees.

The drink presents a medium yellow color.

The nose is more exuberant with the primary aromas of the grape, such as sweet gooseberry, white peach and orange blossom, along with notes of grapefruit, passion fruit, ripe mango and freshly cut grass leave a sensation of summer and unbelievable freshness on the nose.

And are leading on to a creamy texture in the mouth and a lush fruitiness. A very refreshing palate tastes light-bodied with medium-high, lovely acidity, moderate alcohol, and a little present sweetness. A slightly dry, young wine with mineral and fresh, fruity flavors that last and make it easy to drink.

Excellent Sauvignon Blanc!

Although a few producers in other countries have been known to leave a gram or two of residual sugar to add a richer texture, but not this one. This white is a vegan-friendly wine which means that has no added sugar and contains low sulfites.

Should consume this wine at a temperature of 8-12 °C, no need to decant.

Match this light wine with chicken, turkey, lobster, shrimp, clams, codfish, or salmon. Goes well with goat cheese, mozzarella, feta, and ricotta. Try with asparagus risotto or Greek salad. And from Asian cuisine, this wine pairs well with Thai and Vietnamese dishes that are driven with herbs. Or just drink it as an aperitif!

This is not the first time for me to taste this grape in this region, and I must tell you that I like Sauvignon Blanc of Algarve!

And this wine has everything to be a hit wine this summer!

Much more than a summer drink. A very fresh, elegant wine! Sooo Blanc!

So, come and spend your holiday this summer in Algarve, and of course, do not miss tasting also this wine. You will not regret it!
