Couteiro Mor Signature 2017, from Alentejo

Couteiro Mor Signature is a red wine with VR Alentejo, produced by the Barão Rodrigues family, in the 2017 vintage, with 14,5% alcohol content.

The winery was built in 1990 to making its own grapes, and the first wine of their commercial brand “Couteiro-Mor” was produced in 1991. In 2012, the estate was acquired by an Algarve family that takes over the leadership of the estate and all its brands. At the moment, it has 43 ha of one of its own vineyard areas named Herdade do Menir, where this wine was born, on low consolidated sand materials and Mediterranean soils, and the oenology team led by professional winemakers is a guarantee of the quality of the wines produced on the estate.

This wine is a blend of their Alicante Bouschet, Syrah and Touriga Nacional grape varieties that spent 8 months in French oak barrels.

The drink presents dark ruby color.

On the nose, intense aromas of ripe berries and florals, plum, raspberry, blackcurrant and violet, with oaky notes such as butter and vanilla, and a touch of pepper.

Rich in flavors on the palate, soft and round, it shows a medium body with nice fruity flavors where the fruits present a little more than on the nose. Plenty of tannins and light acidity in a persistent dry finish.

A beautiful Alentejo red that brings pleasant feelings. The mix of these grapes gives a complex taste to the wine.

Should consume at a temperature between 16-18 °C.

This multi-awarded wine is perfect with a barbecue, rice duck or the famous suckling pig, a famous Alentejo dish.

Cheers!
