Reserva Petit Verdot 2013 by Quinta do Barranco Longo, Algarve, Portugal
Quinta do Barranco Longo is located in the heart of the Algarve.
The terroir, with its calcareous clay soil and with more than 3000 hours of sunshine a year, enhance the quality of the grapes that after being processed result in high-quality wines like this Reserva Petit Verdot.
Tasting this wine I met a well-balanced, dry red wine with a beautiful deep garnet color, made from the Petit Verdot grape variety. Intense aromas of black fruits and a bit of wood on the notes, blackberries, black cherries with some spices on the palate.
Well-marked acidity with excellent tannins.
14% ABV.
„Destemming, followed by maceration in stainless steel tanks. Then alcoholic fermentation with temperature control and pushing down the cap of skins twice a day. Post-fermentation maceration in cuvaison. Pressing and malolactic fermentation”, by the winemaker’s note.
Aging for a year in French oak barrels.
A full-bodied, complex wine with a long finish.
Pairing well with red meats, tomato-based pasta or creamy risottos, for example.
Another excellent wine from this winery for demanding ones!
Don’t miss to taste!
Enjoy!
