Piteira Reserva red wine, produced by Amareleza Vinhos, Lda., in the Alentejo wine region of Portugal.
With the nickname of its owner, Piteira is the main brand of the company, destined to be wines of superior quality.
This DOC wine is a blend of the best grapes from Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Moreto and Alfrocheiro of 2019 vintage, produced in modern vineyards on the left bank of the Rio Guadiana. It aged in French oak for 6 months, in order to gain some aromatic refinement but without compromising the character that the varieties and the region imprint.
The wine presents deep garnet color.
Notes of oak and vanilla with plum and blackberries. Sweet spice and blackberry jam with mixed notes of cocoa and coffee, on the nose.
Very traditional style in the mouth, with flavors of discreet fruits. Comes with a touch of old wood, pine nuts, a little allspice and slight bitterness. It presents good acidity, light tannins, and a fresh and smooth finish. Medium body, soft, round, complex, well-structured and fruity wine. Almost sweet by taste but yet dry wine.
Alcohol 14% Vol.
Goes perfectly with typical Alentejo cheeses, cakes, olives and bread, or with some lamb/beef in the oven.
