Terra Lenta Premium, from Alentejo DOC

Terra Lenta Premium DOC Alentejo red wine, produced by Carmim, a cooperative winery in the Alentejo wine region of Portugal.

The CARMIM Cooperativa Agrícola de Reguengos de Monsaraz – was founded in 1971 by a group of 60 wine-growers aiming to produce wines from their grapes. Nowadays with approximately 850 members and 3,600 hectares of vineyard, CARMIM produces quality wines and olive oils. The company is a leader in the quality wine market with its reference of 74 wines: from whites and reds to liqueur, rosé, and sparkling wines. Their wines have been multi-awarded by various national and international competitions.

This red wine is a blend of Trincadeira, Aragonez and Alicante Bouchet grape varieties, from the vintage of 2019.

After mechanical harvest, selection of grapes on arrival at the cellar, then fermentation at controlled temperature. Aging for 9 months in French and American oak barrels.

The name ‘Terra Lenta’ on the label refers to ‘Slow Land’, appellation or nickname to a parcel of the vineyard that took time to produce but, with the special interest of the winemaker, it became a vineyard.

The wine presents a deep garnet color.

On the nose, a very complex bouquet with black fruits such as blackberry, bilberry, and black cherry, with an additional hint of spices, vanilla and smoke.

On the palate, it is a nicely balanced, smooth wine with good structure. Medium-dry drink with extra flavors of oak and dried fruits, raisin and prune, as well as velvety tannins and slightly rustic, food-friendly acidities. Lovely dark berries with a dark chocolate flavor at the persistent finish.

Medium-high alcohol content (14,5%).

Matching well with steak, barbecue, lamb, grilled vegetables and tomato-based dishes.
