On this beautiful sunny Sunday in Portugal, let’s toast with a white wine from the wine region of the Portuguese Setúbal Peninsula.
This Palmelão was produced by a cooperative winery located in the Palmela DOC subregion.
The Adega Cooperativa de Palmela was founded in 1955 with the name Adega Cooperativa da Região do Moscatel de Setúbal and began its activity with 50 members and with a production that did not exceed 1.5 million liters. Nowadays, production exceeds 8 million liters with 70% being reds, 25% whites and 5% Moscatel wines.
Its main wine-growing area lies on the sandy plain that makes up a large part of the Municipality of Palmela.
The wine is a blend of Verdelho, Arinto, Fernão Pires and Chardonnay grapes.
It presents a light citrus color.
An intense mix of floral and fruit aromas on the nose, such as lemon, lime, tangerine, litchi, ananas, mango, pear and apple with vanilla, orange blossom and honeysuckle.
Strong personality and a beautiful character in all its richness of flavors and aromas, on the palate. Fruity wine with citrus touches and some minerals. Slightly sweet with moderate acidity. Complex flavors due to the harmony of the four grape varieties where the Verdelho seems to be more evident.
Nice, especially fresh wine.
13% alcohol.
Try it with fish tacos, lime chicken, lobster, the famous Portuguese Bacalhau (salt cod), sushi, or Vietnamese spring rolls.
