Amuado 2017 by Quinta da Tôr, from Algarve

Cabernet Sauvignon is not a typical grape variety in Portugal. But here is a good example of refutation.

This wine called ’Amuado’ is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon by the Quinta da Tôr winery, in the Algarve wine region of Portugal, where the climate is Mediterranean.

The Portuguese name ’Amuado’ means grumpy. As the winemaker recommends his wine, “a sweet wine that cheers up any grumpy souls.”

This is a Cabernet Sauvignon for sweet teeth. Naturally sweet wine without the addition of any alcohol. The wine “pouted” during fermentation, stopped fermentation. Thus, the sugars did not turn into alcohol making the wine naturally sweet.

This wine from the vintage of 2017 presents a pale ruby color, with wide legs in the glass because of the higher (14,5%) alcohol content.

Black and dried fruits aromas on the nose, black cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, with nuances of baking spices and earthy notes, as well as cinnamon and chocolate.

On the palate, it is a juicy wine with also intense jammy and herbal flavors. Smooth drink with massive tannins of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Delicious, easy-drinking, silky wine.

Consume at 14 °C temperature in a glass full of ice with a slice of delicious orange from the Algarve, following the winemaker’s suggestion.

As the label shows, this is an ‘After Dinner Wine’. Ideal to be enjoyed as an aperitif or with any desserts, chocolate or cake.

Do you have any friend or family member who is always sulking? Christmas is coming… this wine is an ideal gift to sweeten those who is always grumpy.

Cheers!
