Today let’s jump to the most mountainous region in mainland Portugal!
Pastor da Serra, which means Mountain Sheperd in English, and refers to the Beira Interior wine region, where Abegoaria Wines produced this red wine.
In this region, the soils are predominantly granite, and the climate has a strong continental influence, with high-temperature variations, resulting in short, hot, dry summers and long cold winters, sometimes with snow. The region’s stunning landscapes and diverse microclimates contribute to the unique characteristics of its wines.
The region has great grape varieties, such as Tinta Roriz, Bastardo, Marufo, Rufete, and Touriga Nacional, when it comes to reds.
The story of the winery starts on the left bank of river Guadiana, in inland Alentejo, but now spreads out to other regions in the country. Their project was born out of the passion of a family for their origins, their land, their people, and the preservation of their local identity.
Nestled in this stunning region, this Pastor da Serra Reserva red wine enchants with a dark ruby color.
Elegant aromas of black fruits with balsamic notes, on the nose.
On the palate, elegance and freshness combine harmoniously with fruit and wood notes. This terroir’s altitude brings elegance and depth to the wine. The finish is intense and of some complexity.
Have you already tasted any wines from this region?
Do not miss this, I really liked it!
Cheers!
