Ho-ho-ho… today Santa brings to you a very balanced red wine, at a good price, produced by the Adega Vila Real, a cooperative winery in the Douro Valley in Portugal.
Their grapes come from vineyards planted between 100 and 550 meters, facing south/west with high densities. This is where these grapes give rise to their Port and Douro wines are born, with a modern and international profile while maintaining the “terroir” of the Douro. In recent years, the “Adega de Vila Real” brand has become one of the references of great vitality in the Douro, and of the region’s affirmation both in Portugal and abroad, through an offer of wines widely distinguished by their excellent price/quality ratio.
This multi-awarded red wine is a blend of the Tinta Roriz (called Aragonês in Alentejo of Portugal, or Tempranillo in Spain), Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional grape varieties. A selection of grapes at different altitudes, to achieve a good balance between aromatic fraction and structure. The wine is made with gentle vinification at lower temperatures, to obtain elegant and smooth wines.
The drink presents a clear ruby color.
Aromas of red and black fruits with spicy touches of cinnamon on the nose reveal a gentle maceration preserving the typical notes of the grape varieties and ensuring that the wine is at its peak after bottling. Delicate floral aromas (roses), rockrose, and balsamic notes.
On the palate, a dense wine with great structure and aromatic complexity. Velvety entry and round tannins, highlighting persistent woody flavors. This full-bodied wine has a very good balance, with a fine acidity and a hint of sweetness.
Alcohol content: 13%
Should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C.
This wine goes very well with red meat, roast beef, or grilled meats.
