Did you know that Pacheca in Douro produces not only Port but also excellent still-red wines?
Quinta da Pacheca, one of the best-known properties in the Douro, stands out for being one of the first to bottle its own brand wines.
The name of this Quinta has already been referenced since April 17, 1738, when a dated document appears for the first time the reference to Quinta “da Pacheca”, as its owner D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. But it was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to develop his growing interest in enology, buying the property with the aim of dedicating himself to wine production.
Today, a century later, the new generation of Serpa Pimentel takes over the management of the Quinta: the young faces of this company of a markedly family nature.
Located in the heart of the Douro, on a 36-hectare property filled with vineyards that extends to the river, the Pacheca Wine House Hotel is an intense and soulful hotel with its innovative and sophisticated style.
A boutique hotel dedicated to gastronomic and wine tourism, where well-being is constant and wine takes center stage.
This Superior wine was made from three noble grape varieties from the Douro region: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz. Food treading in traditional granite tanks, and aged in French oak barrels for 9 months.
Tinta Roriz gives elegance and robustness to the wine, rich fruit and spices.
Touriga Nacional is always intense and explosive, presenting both floral and fruity aromas. It is capable of producing balanced wines with excellent aging capacity.
Touriga Franca, thanks to the strong concentration of tannins, contributes to the good aging of the blends in which it is used. It gives plentiful fruit, providing elegant wines with a dense body and firm structure.
This wine presents deep, ruby-red color.
It has a very fruity aroma with clear notes of ripe black fruits, blackberry and plum, balanced with soft nuances of coffee and dark chocolate from the barrel.
On the palate, it shows balance and good structure with polished tannins present. A fresh, harmonious wine with fruity and strong spicy flavors. A persistent, drying and throat-burning finish.
Alcohol: 14% vol.
Ready to drink right away but it holds up well in the bottle for 6-7 years after the harvest date.
The wine is pairing well with steaks, gourmet burgers, a rack of lamb, tomato-based dishes, or blue cheeses.
A real, full-bodied Douro classic!
