Today’s wine is the Roboredo Premium red, produced by Rui Roboredo Madeira, in the Douro wine region of Portugal.
Each wine with the signature ‘Rui Roboredo Madeira’ has a story to tell, marking the best moments of life.These wines are a tribute to the Roboredo family which since the 19th century has been linked to farming and viticulture in the Douro Superior, always with respect for traditions, land and people.
The Roboredo brand is segmented into three wine levels: Colheita, Premium and Signature.
The Premium wines seek to enhance all the complexity of the wines of this sub-region, in which the intensity is balanced by the aging in wood, in a very elegant set.
Like the other wines of the winemaker, this brand is made from native Douro grapes from non-irrigated vineyards, reinforcing Rui Roboredo Madeira’s commitment to sustainability. According to this, it is not acceptable for him to spend 450 liters of water per year for each vine, when we are in a world seriously affected by the global warming.
This red wine is a blend of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz grape varieties, growing in the Douro Superior sub-region, and harvested in the vintage of 2019.
The drink presents a deep ruby color.
Intense ripe red fruity nose with woody notes, raspberry, blackberry jam, vanilla, oak and chocolate.
On the palate, the wine has a volume and a complexity of aromas that make it engaging. Very smooth, velvety wine, with well-rounded, soft tannins. Excellent Douro red wine with the dominance of red fruit flavors. Elegant, intense, medium persistent, and a somewhat dry finish.
It is advisable to air a little before serving to feel the full aroma.
A great pairing to accompany poultry dishes and sausages, semi-cured cheeses, or the Portuguese duck rice.
