Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 with the ambition of making Portuguese wines known to the world.
Their unparalleled foresight and vision resulted in the creation of the first global Portuguese wine brand – Mateus Rosé. Sold in over 120 countries, and this provided the decisive momentum for the growth.
From those days, Sogrape Vinhos has steadily grown. Led today by the third generation of the founding family, they own over 830 hectares of vineyards in all the key Portuguese wine regions. Stands out is the presence of their two major global Portuguese wine brands – Mateus Rosé and Sandeman as well as the prestigious wines of Porto Ferreira and Offley. Added to which are other more renowned specialist brands like the Casa Ferreirinha in the Douro region who produced this tasted wine.
Today, Planalto is one of the largest references of white wine in the Douro Demarcated Region.
This wine is a blend of 25% Viosinho, 20% Malvasia Fina, 20% Gouveio, 10% Rabigato, 10% Códega, 10% Arinto, 5% Moscatel grape varieties.
The Casa Ferreirinha Planalto White Reserva 2019 wine has a medium straw color with a pleasant golden hue.
On the nose, a very intense and complex bouquet of white fruits like pear, green apple, peach and green melon, with a hint of citrus aromas, tropical passionfruit and floral notes.
On the palate, the wine has a lively attack of a vibrant but well-integrated acidity that gives it an excellent freshness. Aromas of the good intensity of white and tropical fruits, alongside minerals, flavors of stone and chalk, with beautiful citrus shades, and a very harmonious, short finish with some bitterness of lemon zest.
Winemaking: the hand-picked grapes in the Douro were de-stemmed and softly crushed. There followed cold decanting of the must which were fermented in stainless steel tanks later, at controlled temperatures of between 16-18ºC for about 20 days. After a strict selection, the final blend was prepared and bottled after clarification and stabilization.
The wine has a 12,5% of alcohol content.
Enjoy this pleasant wine with any seafood, fish meals or salads.
Consume at 9 – 11ºC temperature.
Cheers!
