Terras Altas 2015 by the José Maria da Fonseca winery from the Dão wine region of Portugal. Another tasted wine from Fonseca, in a different style.
The story that inspires this wine comes from their special love for the land, which is still present in JMF’s wines.
Terras Altas is a dry red wine with a medium ruby color, blended from the Jaen, Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional grape varieties.
Intense black fruity aromas, cherry, plum and blackberry, with a hint of wood and vanilla on the nose. Seems like a very masculine wine with tobacco, leather and cigar aromas. On the palate, it is a medium-bodied, light drink, with contrast from minerality and bitterness; a medium sour finishing with a long bitter aftertaste.
Terras Altas is a balanced, easy-drinking wine with soft tannins and light acidity.
Vinification: skin contact at 28ºC, then aged for 2 months in American oak barrels. This wine made its debut in the 1950s, and nowadays, it is aged and bottled in the Azeitão winery of JMF.
Pairing well with meat dishes or pizzas.
Have a nice drink! Cheers!
