This Palmela 2015 red wine origins from Península de Setúbal wine region in Portugal, Palmela DO, made by Venâncio da Costa Lima winery.
Opening this bottle, I tasted a dry red wine with an intense garnet color, made from 100% Castelão, the region’s most traditional grape variety, which was grown on clay-limestone soils and Mediterranean climate with a maritime influence.
This well-balanced drink is full of intense ripe fruity aromas like red fruits: cherry and plum, with a few wood notes on the nose, accompanied by a bit of oaky and spiciness on the palate.
Correct acidity, long tannins with an elegant finish, and 13,5% alcohol.
This wine represents the cross between traditional knowledge and modern winemaking techniques. Classic vinification with temperature control and prolonged maceration for phenolic extraction. Stage for 6 months in French oak barrels.
Consumption up to 6 years, served on 18 ºC.
Pairing well with meat, pasta or cheese.
The Palmela 2015 is a very aromatic red wine, worth a taste… Cheers!
