Herdade de São Miguel Colheita Seleccionada 2020, from Alentejo

Herdade de São Miguel Colheita Seleccionada 2020 red wines, produced by Adega da Casa Relvas, in the Alentejo wine region of Portugal.

Casa Relvas is a family business, started by Alexandre Relvas, in São Miguel de Machede. The project aims to continue the history of five generations with a strong passion for the Alentejo. Over the years, the business reached a total of 350 hectares of vineyards. With its three estates – including the Herdade de São Miguel – Casa Relvas has the capacity to produce 6 million bottles of wine annually, 70% of which is to meet the needs of the foreign market. Their annual production is 5 million bottles, 60% of which are destined for more than 30 countries on four continents.

This red wine was made from the Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Touriga Nacional grape varieties, growing on clay and schist soil.

Colheita Seleccionada means ‘selected harvest’.

The grapes have been harvested manually overnight. Fermentation with controlled temperature in stainless steel vats. Aging for 4 months in 400 l oak barrels.

The wine presents medium purple color with violet reflections, and abundant, slow tears.

Ripe fruits aromas on the nose, blackberry, blackcurrant and raspberry, well integrated with notes of spices and balsamic, such as pepper, some vanilla, thyme and licorice.

On the palate, balanced, round, fruity and spicy flavors. A young wine with very ripe fruits, good structure, well-polished tannins and quiet elegance. Nice, medium-bodied wine, with oaky notes. Well-balanced drink with an elegant finish.

Alcohol content: 14% vol.

Serve this wine at a temperature of 16 ºC.

Pairing well with grilled steak, lamb, white meats and blue cheese.

A wine that clearly demonstrates its origin and has won more than 100 gold medals since its first harvest.
