Casaleiro Colheita Selecionada Red 2019, from Tejo

Santa is approaching and left me a wine… This Casaleiro is a regional red wine, produced by the Enoport Wines in the Tejo wine region of Portugal.

In 1881, João Camillo Alves founded Adegas Camillo Alves, the oldest company that would give rise to the Enoport Wines Group.

The Enoport Wines Group resulted from the union of some of the most prestigious Portuguese wine companies, each with a distinct specialty that earned them national and international recognition.

Casaleiro is one of the brands of the company that conquered its space in the market with a new positioning and image. In 2018, this brand was rebranded, highlighting the letter ‘C’ of the Casaleiro brand, making its image more elegant. And in 2019, this brand participated in the Berliner Wine Trophy contest where it won two gold medals.

’Colheita Selecionada’ ont he label means ’Selected Harvest’.

The wine is a blend of the Castelão (40%), Trincadeira (40%) and Touriga Nacional (20%) grape varieties, from the 2019 vintage.

It has a light ruby color.

On the nose, its aroma is intense in red fruits with hints of spices, red cherry, raspberry, black pepper and oaky notes, with some wet stone.

On the palate, young and easy-drinking wine with rather a soft flavors and balanced structure. Smooth, fruity taste. A medium-bodied, slightly dry wine, with intense flavors of licorice. Soft tannins and pleasant acids accompany each other with cherries aftertaste in the medium-long finish.
